The permanent exhibition

The permanent exhibition

The permanent exhibition shows us the territory of the Rouergat towns of the Middle Ages via four main themes: landscape construction, human occupation, urban adventure and society and power. Through it, today’s inhabitants, young and old, along with the many visitors can explore the Aveyron’s landscape, historical, urban and architectural resources.

The exhibition includes ancient objects presented as in a museum coupled with an engaging contemporary scenography that provides audio and video explanations.

The visit leads you through the different rooms of the house. Models of the Rouergue towns of the Middle Ages are upstairs and the differences between Najac, Rieupeyroux, Villefranche-de-Rouergue, la Bastide l’Evêque and Sauveterre-de-Rouergue can be clearly seen. Finally on the top floor you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the village and its royal castle.

The Governor’s House organises regular events, including temporary exhibitions, conferences and interactive learning. Leave your email address with us for more information.
